Collections for people with disabilities at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia

On October 23, in the Manege, as part of the MBFW, the Bezgraniz Couture project will present collections specially created by students of the British Higher School of Design for people with different disabilities.

Models using a wheelchair, having amputation, having cerebral palsy and Down syndrome will enter the catwalk, and the Russian ExoAtlet will also enter the catwalk. The collection was produced with the support of the project. burdastyle.ru.

After the show, a press conference will be held at which, in addition to the details of creating a podium collection and its industrial replication, the results of the world's first study of the purchasing power of people with disabilities will be presented.
The study was initiated by the Bezgraniz Couture project by experts from the School of Art and Design, Nottingham Trent University, UK. (Julian Wing, Prof. Anthony Kent).

Since 2010, the Bezgraniz Couture project has been conducting international special fashion competitions, producing special collections by Russian and foreign designers, conducting educational activities and implementing innovative cultural initiatives aimed at changing the attitude of society towards people with disabilities.
In 2014, the project was the first in the world to bring Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week models with amputation, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, small people, as well as blind people and people using a wheelchair to the podium of the high fashion week.
The achievements of Bezgraniz Couture aroused interest from Russian manufacturers, as well as international companies, who see in the partnership opportunities for creating innovative products. In the near future, several projects will be launched on Russian crowdfunding platforms, and everyone will be able to support the launch of mass production of collections for people with various disabilities.
In 2015, the Acropolis: How I Found My Body project, which offers a look at the visual similarities of antique statues and people with "different" bodies, see their beauty and change their usual perception of disability, was included in the short list of awards: "Made in Russia" , "The Moscow Times Awards" and became the laureate and winner of the Grand Prix awards "Silver Archer", "Silver Mercury", "PROBA IPRA Golden Word Awards" and "Best Social Projects of Russia".
